CrowdCount IoT people counting solutions

Say hello to the CrowdCount sensor!

This is a device that is placed above a door frame to count the number of people entering and exiting a room. It serves as a people counter, keeping track of the total traffic flow in both directions.

All CrowdCount sensors are designed with privacy in mind, ensuring that it operates in an anonymous manner. It utilizes an 8x8 grid with heights for counting, which allows for accurate people counting while maintaining the anonymity of individuals passing through the door.

This is what the sensor sees!

The sensor divides the area above the door into an 8x8 grid, creating a virtual matrix of small sections. Each section corresponds to a specific height range. For example, the lower sections might represent shorter individuals, while the higher sections represent taller individuals.

CrowdCount sensors counts the number of people passing through each height section without capturing any personally identifiable information (PII). It focuses solely on the distribution of people across different height ranges and aggregates the counts accordingly.

Whooo data communication!

LoRa (Long Range) is a wireless communication technology used in the CrowdCount sensor to transmit data over long distances with low power consumption. It enables the sensor to send the people counting information to a central system or gateway, facilitating real-time data collection and analysis.

When it comes to RF (Radio Frequency) safety and humans, it's important to address concerns regarding potential health effects associated with wireless technologies such as LoRa used in the CrowdCount sensor.

LoRa, including its specific frequency and power levels, has been carefully designed to operate within the established safety guidelines and regulations. The emitted RF energy from LoRa devices, including the CrowdCount sensor, is typically very low-power and falls well below the safety limits set by regulatory bodies in the netherlands and other authorities worldwide.

And for what?

The occupancy detection capability of the CrowdCount sensor enhances room management by providing accurate and up-to-date information on room occupancy.

Understanding room occupancy patterns over time allows for better space planning and optimization. By analyzing the data collected by the sensor, schools / businesses can identify high-traffic areas, peak hours, and underutilized rooms. This insight enables them to make informed decisions about room layouts, rearrangements, or repurposing to maximize space utilization.
